My responsibilities include researching current and future trends, in color, print and how it applies to the junior market, with a print design team of four people, we create new and exciting designs for the season, separating prints by categories, florals, boho, tiles, stripes, conversationals and sweater patterns.
I supervise the design process from initial concept to final product in store, including reviewing all prints with design and sales team, to make sure we are on target, solving any and all issues that arise from overseas production until customers like Kohls, Macys, TJMaxx have our product in store.
To create such beautiful and sweet pieces for the GUESS baby girl was a delightful challenge. A little girl as trendy as her GUESS wearing mom and that loves all the cute fashionable details and is on top of trends every season.
I was in charge of creating brand new innovative ideas for every delivery period, to stay on top of fashion trends for baby and girls. To be able to reinvent a brand as fluid as it's women's line.
To make GUESS stand out from the rest it had to be more 3D that the regular screen print, always finding ways to make flowers and prints look and feel more interesting, exploring with novelty appliqués, detail embroideries and at the same time always being very cost efficient, since no matter how good it looks if there's no profit in the garment then it doesn't work.
Developed many marketing projects to stay on top of the baby business, like "My First Denim" packaging ideas, from novelty boxes to satin hanging sets and specialty garments for specific luxury stores.
- Developed brand new artworks for all kid's size ranges for Guess Outlet business.
- Bring in new graphic and technique ideas for every new season.
- Communicate on a daily basis with overseas factory, to make sure we stay on calendar, samples are being made to standard and answer any questions they might have.
- Be conscious of color story, made sure colors coordinated.
- Created pitch sheets detailing technique for each artwork for factory to interpret.
- Created plaid patterns, graphic patterns and all over prints.
- Assisted creating and revising garment tech-packs (inquiries).
- Made adjustments and figured out garment specs.
- Being very cost efficient on techniques used, a way of creating the garment to make it look expensive without actually being it.
Being a fashion design assistant taught me a lot of different aspects of the business on top of that I knew about kids clothes thru graphics.
I was responsible for staying on the look out for the next thing for boys apparel, shopping for amazing inspiration and putting together trend boards that could translate exactly to the GUESS customer.
Focused mostly on developing Baby boy clothing line bringing down from big boys, keeping the GUESS essence in 2 piece sets, 3 piece sets and novelty outerwear.
Created tech packs, color cards, fabric approvals, had merchandising meetings and always able to make quick decisions on the spot to make the line work.
Infant boys size range is from 9 months to 24 months, a tender age when they start walking and having a real personality. Designing graphics for these adventurers was great fun, as a GUESS brand I had to always stay fresh with the themes used, not feeling old or too traditional, and always exploiting the great GUESS name for maximized recognition.
Exploring differente fabrics for patches, sometimes with raw edge to add a rugged look. Other times creating a preppy boy for holiday picture taking that will steal everybody's heart.
Boys plaids and stripes had to be right on point, with trending colors, ever changing patterns and always making a whole group work tighter.

Throughout the years I have come to master the art of creating beautiful prints, from sweet baby prints, to intricate boyish plaids, covering a range of sophistication when needed and simplicity when called for.
As being part of the GUESS brand the marketing tools had to be visited often. I designed and developed several items that were either gift with purchase or incentive for special buyers, for example a magnetic lizard that went with a whole infant boys line. A classic denim tote bag for the moms on the go.
